Starting a blog is frustrating. No matter how good your content is nobody reads it.
So, how do you attract readers?
The key is to build a small audience before you start your blog. There are several ways how to do that, but one of the most effective strategies is guest blogging.
Many of the big bloggers recommend to start out with guest blogging. Even startups use guest blogging to promote their services.
The idea is to leverage the audiences of other people to build yours. By building an audience, I mean building an email list. 1000 email subscribers is the sweet spot before you should start publishing on your own blog.
Besides traffic guest posting can provide other benefits. By writing for the big sites in your niche you also build authority and high-quality backlinks that will help your future content rank higher.
Where To Get Started?
To start guest blogging, you need to find blogs that accept guest posts. To make it easy for you, I have already compiled a list of blogs that do. The blogs are ordered by Alexa ranking, sure it’s not the best metric, but it gives a general sense of how popular the blogs are.
I had a little bit of trouble grouping all the different websites. The bigger the site, the more topics it covers and so, it can fall under different categories. Because of that I also created broad categories, but I hope they won’t be a problem for you.
For example, if you are writing about internet marketing, then you could also guest post on a blog about small business, because they also cover marketing.
You won’t find some popular blogs here, that you might find in other lists. I only included blogs that have a Write For Us page and some reasonable guidelines. If it requires to have a relationship with the owner, then the site isn’t included. You do want an actionable list, right?
Lastly, I want to say that I will try to keep this updated as much as possible. Yes, I will try, but your help is greatly appreciated, if you find that a blog doesn’t accept guest posts anymore, usually that happens when they get extremely big, then let me know in the comments. Also, if you want your blog featured let me know in the comments as well and I will consider it.
Guest Blogging Tool
Once you start submitting guest posts you are going to want a way to track your submissions. The best tool I’ve found is Guest Post Tracker. They do charge a small fee to use their software but it will save you from a ton of headaches trying to keep track of everything.
Mirasee.com (previously known as Firepolemarketing)- They have good quality guidelines and a long line of guest posts. If you want to guest post on FM, then be prepared to wait for several weeks until it gets published.
This is a hell of a list. If you are a beginner I recommend starting from the bottom of the categories, because those blogs are less popular and will accept your posts easier.
The very top blogs require top quality blog posts. They are very picky and you need to come up with a great topic to get published there. You need to write a blog post so good that you don’t even want to give it away.
